I registered an account but did not receive an email confirmation.
If you didn't receive the confirmation in your email's Inbox, please check other folders. If you can't find the confirmation in any folder, empty your emails and resend the confirmation code here. If it did not succeed the second time either then you should really try another email address or contact: chesscape@gmail.com with your registered email address.
I've lost my user name or password. Can you send it to me?

How do I update my account information?
Please login your account and select "Profile" to update your account.
Can you delete my account?
Inactive accounts are periodically deleted. If you want your account deleted simply don't login again. We do not delete them upon request.
What is a minor account, and what is COPPA?
The US federal law: Children Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires websites to obtain approval from parents before they can collect information such as email from minors. If you are under the age of thirteen, please do not register.
Help! I cannot launch and play the game.
If you don't see the game window being launched, most likely your popup blocker is active. Disable your popup blocker or Ctrl-click "Play Now" when you are launching the game. If you see an empty window then you need to download the Java plugin from java.com.
Help! I cannot connect to the game server.
If you can not connect to the game server, make sure your firewall is off. The game server operates at port 3534.
How do I start playing against another person?
You can start playing by joining a game in the lobby or create your own game. Once you are inside the game table choose a Chess piece color and sit down. The game will be started when both players are seated and the red player made the first move.
How do I start practicing against the computer?
You can start practicing against the computer in the lobby by clicking "Practice". Once you are inside the game table choose a Chess piece color and sit down. The game will be started once the red player made the first move.
How does the timer work?
There are two settings in a timer. The first setting is the game time in minutes. The second setting is the incremental time in seconds rewarded to a player when he/she made a move. The game ends when a timer expired or you could play a no timer game with "Timer" unchecked.
How do I make my game private?
You can only make a game private if you are the host of the table. Select "Private" from the list and sit down. Once a game becomes private, no other players can join the game without an invitation.
How do you calculate rating?
The rating is calculated based on the Elo rating system which is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players. Click here for more details.
What notation do you use?
We uses World Xiangqi Federation(WXF) Notation to record the in-game movements on a history table. You can review these moves by single-click or double-click on the row with the WXF Notation. Click here for more details.
How do I find out a player's statistics?
Double click on the player's name and the player's details pops up.
How do I add a player to my friend's list?
Double click on the player's name and click "Add Friend".
How do I remove a friend from my friend's list?
Double click on the player's name and click "Remove Friend".
How do I invite a player to join my game?
Hit "Invite" and single-click the player's name on the invitation popup and click "Invite" again.
How do I boot a player from my game?
Single-click on the player's name and click "Boot".
How do I send private messages to a player?
Double-click on the player's name and enter the message then click "Send".
How do I block messages from players who are not my friends?
When you receive a message from any player, simply check "Allow instant messages from friends only." Then any future unsolicited messages will be discarded.
How do I block messages and invitations from a player?
Double-click on the player's name and check "Ignore".
How do I turn off the speaker?
Toggle the speaker icon to off or on accordingly.
